Choose the calculation unit first
Compare a breakfast package's room-night surcharge with the number of individual breakfasts it must cover. They are different units. The same room-night volume can require different meal quantities when single and double occupancy change. This article uses public package definitions checked on 10 October 2026 and entirely fictional arithmetic. Amounts are not real hotel data, product prices or Stayax commercial terms. The purpose is to expose unit mismatch, not recommend a market price. Google separates rate packages from general amenities; its package reference defines breakfast inclusion. A hotel serving breakfast does not mean every rate includes it. Before calculating, state whether the increment is per room or person and who is included. Do not infer adult or child coverage from the package name.
Same 80 room-nights, different guest mix
Assume a fictional surcharge of TRY280 per room-night and a variable breakfast cost of TRY90 per person. With 40 single and 40 double room-nights, incremental receipts are 80 × 280 = TRY22,400. Breakfasts total 40 × 1 + 40 × 2 = 120. Variable cost is 120 × 90 = TRY10,800. The difference between only these two lines is TRY11,600, not hotel profit. Change the mix to 20 single and 60 double room-nights. Receipts remain TRY22,400. Breakfasts become 140, cost TRY12,600 and the two-line difference TRY9,800. The TRY1,800 change comes from 20 additional breakfasts. Base accommodation revenue is assumed unchanged and must not be counted again as package income. Different assumptions would produce different outcomes.
Why the difference is not profit or savings
The example excludes fixed kitchen expenses, extra staff time, unused prepared food, taxes and channel conditions. It does not assert they are zero. If cancellation terms or other included services differ, do not attribute the entire rate gap to breakfast. First identify comparable offers and isolate the increment genuinely belonging to the meal. Use a consistent calculation basis; this is no tax or accounting advice. Record entitlement separately from consumption. This example assumes everyone entitled eats. Lower consumption need not reduce preparation costs proportionally. An uneaten breakfast is not automatically a saving. Verify your own public scope for children, outside visitors or separate purchases; no age discount or free entitlement is assumed. Keep illustrative records fictional rather than copying personal booking data into a guide.
Weekly review and limits
Name the period, package scope, package room-nights, entitled people, actual consumption and relevant cost lines separately. Do not combine report totals until you understand their units. Recalculate fictional one-person and two-person rows before interpreting a difference. If a result changes, first examine guest mix, inclusions and reporting scope rather than immediately changing price. This is neither an optimization model nor a guaranteed upsell or final profitability forecast. It explains what a per-room increment must support. Make decisions using verified property-specific inputs and the appropriate authorized review. More package sales are not automatically better.
